Cranberry sauce for me, is the exclamation point to dinner. A small colorful dish that envokes excitement and brings the other dishes to life. It adds color to the table and flavor to your plate. And can be made up to 1 week ahead of time!
1 (12oz) bag of fresh cranberries
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup orange juice
2 1/4 teaspoon finely grated orange peel
1/2 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
Bring all ingredients to a boil in a heavy medium sized sauce pan, stirring often. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until most of the cranberries burst, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. Transfer sauce to a medium bowl. Cool, cover, and refrigerate.
You can make this dish up to 1 week ahead! Keep Thanksgiving Day full of fun and friends and get this out of the way ahead of time!
